I have tried several chocolate cupcake recipes as well as several buttercream recipes and have found these two to be my favorite.

It's that time of year again... the time where I stock up on Guinness beer and Bailey's Irish cream and Jameson whiskey. And why? you may be wondering... well, it's St. Patrick's Day! The day American's celebrate their Irish heritage by getting sloshed! HA! I don't particularly drink too much... so I like to use my liquor in...
It's winter on the farm here in Virginia, and when I say it's cold, I mean "your-coffee-freezes-before-you-finish-it" cold. The roads are iced over, Matty's on a school delay, and the well-water filtration system? Oh yeah, that's busted too. Life's messy, but the one thing keeping us warm-besides five layers of clothes-is this Chunky Split Pea...
Last year in my Glam Easter Brunch & Tablescape, I used upcycled jam jars filled with candies and topped with a porcelain bunny as a part of the decor. This year, since I'm still in love with the filled-jar concept, I wanted to do something a littler different. I created a set of Spring Painted Candy Jars...
My angel baby turned 11 years old this week! And for her birthday, she requested a Reese's cake! Hhhmmm.... How could I pull off this cake?
Well, I've made my Banana Bread Cupcakes again... this time they really are cupcakes garnished with delicious cream cheese frosting and a crunchy banana chip on top!! The first batch got a little crispy on the bottom (darn my oven)... but the rest turned out beautifully! 🙂 I'm taking these to my Art Class tomorrow...
Since I've been on a cake kick lately, I've been daydreaming non stop about what flavor to make next. I've been craving my favorite chocolate cake recipe and my fridge is fully stocked with raspberries so I knew I had to incorporate them into this cake. Next week I'm baking a cake for a...
These look yummy! Love the flags - I always printed the boys pictures, names, etc with PSE for cupcake toppers on toothpicks. Very creative!
Hi Betsy! I just saw your blogs and tons of cupcake recipes and already fell in love with them 🙂 I have a question, how do you make moist cupcakes? what is the secret ingredient? I once tried baking moist chocolate cake and ended up with a dry one. Help!
I really think it's the combination of ingredients that make it moist. This was the first chocolate cake recipe that I made when I started blogging. Since then, I've perfected it even more. I use a combination of sour cream and coffee (you can't taste the coffee - but it brings out the flavor and adds moisture) for moisture! Also - making sure not to over bake the cake really helps. If you find that your cake is still drying out, try brushing a simple syrup over the top of it. (Just a combo of boiled water and sugar).
