Hi Betsy! I just saw your blogs and tons of cupcake recipes and already fell in love with them 🙂 I have a question, how do you make moist cupcakes? what is the secret ingredient? I once tried baking moist chocolate cake and ended up with a dry one. Help!
I really think it’s the combination of ingredients that make it moist. This was the first chocolate cake recipe that I made when I started blogging. Since then, I’ve perfected it even more. I use a combination of sour cream and coffee (you can’t taste the coffee – but it brings out the flavor and adds moisture) for moisture! Also – making sure not to over bake the cake really helps. If you find that your cake is still drying out, try brushing a simple syrup over the top of it. (Just a combo of boiled water and sugar). Here’s a link to my all time favorite chocolate cake: https://javacupcake.com/2013/04/double-chocolate-layer-cake/
These look yummy! Love the flags – I always printed the boys pictures, names, etc with PSE for cupcake toppers on toothpicks. Very creative!
