I’m super excited to bring you the first of three cookbook reviews this week! Each day, you’ll have a chance to enter to WIN all three books so make sure to come back tomorrow and Friday too!
Today’s book is a cakelette decorating book, Cupcake Envy, by the talented Amy Eilert. Amy Eilert founded her online shop Cupcake Envy in 2006. Her cakelets have been featured in local and national media outlets such as DailyCandy.com, Skirt Magazine, Brides Magazine and the Ugly Betty show. She travels throughout the U.S. and Canada teaching classes and judging national cake competitions including That Takes The Cake Sugar Art and Cake Competition and Cakelove 2011 and is also a certified instructor at CakeCentral.com.
Earlier this year, Amy released a new book, Cupcake Envy! Cupcake Envy walks readers and aspiring dessert chefs through techniques and preparations to bake exquisite treats that resemble amazing objects such as stylish party dress, a wicked voodoo doll, an adorable baby bottle and more than two dozen other amazing likenesses that people will buzz about!
These clever single-serving cakelets assume beloved forms that will appeal to all the special people in your life. Amy’s instructions are easy to follow, and readers will easily be able to customize their own creativity to each of the designs.
Even those who don’t have an aptitude for baking, will enjoy decorating these mini cakes. Every cake can be made with a simple box of cake mix and store-bought toppings, giving more time to devote to the fun and creative parts of the process—shaping and decorating the cakes.
Find more about Amy and Cupcake Envy on the web or Facebook! Cupcake Envy is availble in most major bookstores and online at Amazon!

I met Jenny a few years back in Seattle when she helped out with the Cupcakes Take the Cake 6th Birthday Bash by donating a gorgeous cupcake tower and matching cookies. And although I’ve moved across the world, we’ve been able to keep in touch through our love of baking and I’m thrilled to be a part of her Eat More Dessert Book Tour!
Eat More Dessert is filled with the most amazing party dessert tables I’ve ever seen, including this one for a baby shower! I absolutely love the creativity and simplicity used to put these tables together. And actually… that’s my favorite part about Jenny’s book.
It’s simple. Beautiful. And totally do-able for the home baker!
Jenny includes easy recipes to make her cookies that include box mixes and supplies easily found in grocery stores. No fancy equipment necessary to recreate these cookies, cakes, cake pops and more!
I am absolutely in love with Jenny’s cookies. A lot of people use royal icing to decorate their sugar cookies… but not Jenny! She uses a simple recipe for buttercream that includes an ingredient that might surprise you… but I’ll let you get her book to find out what that is! The piped buttercream on Jenny’s cookies create a unique look that is simple and so adorable! LOVE!
I have a bit of an obsession when it comes to baking books… I love to collect them! I have a big stack of my favorites displayed on the sideboard in my dining room so I can see and enjoy them every day!
I am so incredibly grateful to know so many bakers and bloggers who have written or are writing a cookbook so I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you! Enjoy this collection of 11 Baker & Blogger Cookbooks I Love!
