It was a hot mess of baking and crafting supplies in my house.  But… I did it!  I set off yesterday morning for the venue and set up my table with my handmade awesomeness and delicious cupcakes.

The fair began at 10am and we started selling quick!  By 11am we had sold at least  1/3 of our cupcakes and sales continued steadily until 2:15pm when we sold out!  The fair wasn’t over until 4pm, so we were out of there early!

I heard later that people came after we left looking for cupcakes… I’m sorry we sold out!! Next year, we’ll make MORE!

I seriously had a ton of fun at the fair.  I was able to meet so many of the other crafters in the community as well as meet some new people and make some great connections!  It was a great opportunity to get my name and brand out there!

I need to send a very special thank you to my husband and daughter who helped me so much getting ready for this big event!  They both stepped up and did dishes, loaded the car, helped set up and were just amazing!  I truly appreciate everything they did for me and how much they helped make this a huge success!

And THANK YOU to everyone who bought cupcakes.  I can not thank you enough for your support!  So many of you have already helped spread the word about my cupcakes and have increased my sales so much!  THANK YOU!

Like I said, next year… we bring 300+ cupcakes!

The place was PACKED!! Wall to wall kids and people there to celebrate cupcakes and community.

Cupcake Royale had a live band playing children’s music to entertain… and boy did they ever!  This small cupcake shop was filled with music that made the little kids dance and bounce everywhere!

Oohhh how sweet was this…. a cupcake sprinkle station, FREE to everyone who bought cupcakes!

Jodi Hall, owner of Cupcake Royale, was on hand to mingle with the customers, say hello and celebrate 7 great years of cupcakes!

While we were there, we picked up Cupcake Royale’s two seasonal cupcakes.  Rum Ball and Eggnog.  And let me tell you… they did not disappoint.

The Rum Ball was covered in nuts on top, so I wasn’t able to try that one (I’m allergic ) BUT… my hubby tasted it and said it was REALLY good!  I loved seeing something different on top of their cupcake other than their signature swirl.  It was a fun deviation!

The Eggnog was definitely my favorite though.  I absolutely love the density of the cupcake.  You really feel like you’re getting a lot of cake for your buck with this one!  And the eggnog frosting…. the perfect combination of spices and eggnog.  It was almost sinfull.

We took home a triple threat and a chocolate on vanilla too.  Mmmmmm I can’t wait to snack on those tonight!

The next time you visit Seattle, make sure you check out one of Cupcake Royale’s five locations so you can taste the ORIGINAL cupcake in Seattle!

Carrie will be selling her cupcake couture at Dish it Up as well as at many other cupcake shops and retail locations across Western Washington and the country!

At Dish it Up this weekend, she featured her cupcake wrappers on some gingerbread orange cupcakes made in the store!  They served samples of the cupcakes along with some bubbly! Carrie was on hand to answer questions about her wrappers and show customers how fantastic they can make your cupcakes!

The evening started with New York Cupcakes, Trophy Cupcakes,  Jenny Cookies and so many others coming early to set up their fantastic displays of cupcakes and cookies.  Chopstix Piano Bar in Seattle was the venue.

We had about 1000 cupcakes and 250 cupcake shaped cookies donated as well as over $600 in door prizes.  Plus another 100 cupcakes and frosting donated by Trophy Cupcakes for the Cupcake Piping Contest as well as kits for the contestants and winners from Luck’s Food Decorating Company.  Don’t forget Barbie Hull donating her time and talent too for the party!  That’s more than $5000 in donated fabulousness for this party!

New York Cupcakes outdid themselves with this spectacular display of so many perfect cupcakes.  The cake on top was so amazing.  I was blown away by how beautiful the cake on top was!  Lisa and Heather… you two do amazing work!

Trophy Cupcakes donated this gorgeous display of over 240 mini cupcakes in various flavors.  These, needless to say were just about gone by the end of the night!!

Not only did she make her signature cookies, but Jenny Cookies also made cupcakes to match!! Jenny created this spectacular display of 350 cupcakes and cookies!

We also had cupcake displays from some amazing local bakers such as Winkles Cupcakes, Mia Cupcakes and Free Cakes for Kids South Sound.  A big thank you to Kimmie from Full Circle Adventures, another intern for Cupcakes Take the Cake, for sending her custom made cookies all the way from California to the party!  THANK YOU to everyone who brought these delicious goodies.  They are what made this party SPECTACULAR!

The entertainment for the evening featured Jordan and his partner, dueling piano players for Chopstix.  They got the crowd amped up for a fun evening and played some amazing music!  If you’ve never seen a dueling piano show before… you MUST head to Chopstix and check them out!!!

During the party, we had a Cupcake Piping Contest featuring 2 amateur bakers and 3 professional bakers. The contestants had 2 minutes to pipe and decorate a dozen cupcakes!

The first round featured the amateur bakers, Joy and Sarah!

And round two had the pros…  (from left to right) Donna of Bella Bella Cupcakes, Marisa of The Radical Cupcake and Heather of New York Cupcakes.

Judges for the contest were (left to right) Carrie Middlemiss of Bella Cupcake Couture, Betsy Eves of JavaCupcake.com and Cupcakes Take the Cake, Jessie Oleson of CakeSpy.com and Jessica Stanley of Rocket Queen Cupcakes.

A big congratulations to Joy and Heather for displaying their excellence in cupcake piping!!! They were the big winners of the contest!

Of course, there was plenty of food and drinks, laughter and fun all night long!!  Party goers enjoyed a spread of a delicious buffet provided by Chopstix and some sweet cocktails!

Two of our special smaller guests had some spotlight time on the stage that evening too!! Jenny Keller’s niece Camryn serenaded us with the cutest Christmas song and my daughter, Emily celebrated her 11th birthday with us and had the entire room sing Happy Birthday to her!!

And then… came the time of the night where WE GAVE OUT PRIZES!!!  $500 in fantastic prizes donated from people like Kari of Retro Bakery and Natalie Slater of Bake and Destroy to Mia Cupcakes and Rocket Queen Cupcakes!

And finally… the evening comes to an end, and I get to thank all the amazing friends and family who helped to make this evening possible.

First… I need to thank my family.  Without the love and support of my husband (and his wallet!) I would not have been able to do this.  My daughter, Emily, well… she’s why I strive to be who I am, the best version of me.  My dad and sister, they gave their time to support the party.  I love you all so much!!

And then… well there’s my best friends.  I’m tearing up now just thinking about them.  I am moving to Germany in February and I do not know what I’m going to do without them.  They are my lifeline… my support.  Some people maybe get one best friend… I’m lucky to have four amazing women to call my best friends.  Thank you Sarah, Desiree, Heather and Jen.

And finally… I MUST thank some of the lovely ladies who helped me plan and pull off this event!

Carrie Middlemiss of Bella Cupcake Couture was my inspiration for this party.  I picked her brain, took her ideas and planning and ran with them… creating this amazing party!  THANK YOU Carrie for being a sounding board for me.  I am so blessed to have met you and to call you a friend.  I can’t wait until your visit next year to Europe and we can explore the cupcake scene in England!

Jessie Oleson of CakeSpy…. you are a phenomenal woman.  You are a twinkling light, a beacon of happiness and a true inspiration for any artist to reach out, grab and follow their dreams.  Thank you for donating the amazing art work for this party and thank you for being… well, for being YOU!

Lisa Johnson of New York Cupcakes…. I never expected a friendship with you would arise the day we met, but I am so happy it did.  You went above and beyond with your cupcakes for this party… really making the event great! Your display far exceeded any expectations I had and I am truly thankful for the time and energy you and Heather put into it.  THANK YOU Lisa.  Your shop, your cupcakes… they are unique, extraordinary and definitely my favorite.

I arrive at Sanford & Sons Antiques, where the fair was being held, to find a stage with a table and lots of chair set up for my demo.  A stage! Holy cow! I was so excited!  I start setting up for my big demo… and my nerves start to go away.  All my prepping and planning was coming to fruition and I was in my element.

Before the event… all ready to go!

Here we go… time to teach how to frost and pipe cupcakes! I demonstrated how to make…

“Harvest Pumpkins”

and a bunch of Halloween decorated cupcakes!

We took video at the demo too, but unfortunately the file somehow is “corrupt” and I can’t seem to watch the whole thing on my computer.  I’m going to keep trying to work with it and hopefully I’ll be able to edit it down into segments and you’ll be able to see my techniques for making all these cupcake creations.

Lots of people were there… even some of my blog readers!! Thanks for the support!!

And to 3 of these lucky people went a 4-pack of cupcakes and 1 person won a “Piping Starter Kit” I put together! Yay for free stuff!

When the demo was all over, I put it out there for anyone who wanted to try decorating their own cupcakes to come up and take a shot.  I was really surprised when people actually started lining up to try!  Their creations turned out really awesome!

I really had an amazing time putting together this cupcake demo and then sharing what I know with all of you!

A big THANK YOU goes to my husband and my daughter for all their help before, during and after the demo! I  could not have done it all as successfully as I did without you!! I love you both, thank you!

Thanks also goes to the Tacoma Harvest Fair and especially to Christy and her co-workers for welcoming me at their event.  I was honored to be involved and had such an amazing experience!  THANK YOU!

I almost forgot to mention… there was a Cupcake Decorating contest sponsored by Lucks Food Decorating Company at the fair.  I entered my “Falling Leaves” cupcake and a version of the “Spooky Spider” cupcake called the “Spooky Spider Web” (could only be edible parts, so I took the spider off and covered the sides in orange), and the “Harvest Pumpkin” cupcake into the contest.

“Falling Leaves” won FIRST PLACE and “Spooky Spider Web” won THIRD PLACE!!  How awesome is that?  I believe I won a cupcake pedestal and a goodie bag full of Lucks products!  Sweet!

Bakerella started off with a Q & A session where she gave lots of tips for making the perfect cake pop!

Here are a couple of her tips…

Tip 1:  Use plastic deep plastic bowls, like this one, for your candy melts and dipping your pops.  Plastic and deep are they key here.

Tip 2: Use edible ink pens to create faces and decorations on your Cake Pops.

It started out with the Military Wife Tweet-Up with Katherine (@MissKatherine) and Erica (@HellcatBetty) down at the Starbucks by Fort Lewis.  Great conversation, great women, great time!

Then it was up to Bellevue, WA for the Cupcake Meet Up!  Jessica Stanley, owner of Rocket Queen Cupcakes in Albany, OR was in Seattle for a two week visit and wanted to tour a few of the cupcake shops she hadn’t been to yet!  So I met up with Jessica and Carrie Middlemiss, owner of Bella Cupcake Couture, at New York Cupcakes where owner Lisa Waxman Johnson met with us!

I had never been into New York Cupcakes before, so this was a nice treat for me! Their cute, pink decor was perfect for the petite cupcake shop.  Pink chandeliers, pink walls, pink fridge, pink cupcakes… everything was perfectly pink! Loved it!

Oh…. it was love at first sight with New York cupcakes.  Oh just pure heaven.  Firstly, let me tell you these are no small cupcakes.  They are full size, full frosting, some even filled and topped deliciously perfect looking cupcakes! Great, original selection and some fun, seasonal flavors too!

These blueberry cupcakes…. were like the the moistest cupcakes I’ve ever had.  It was like a muffin… on steroids.  SO GOOD!!!

And here’s the 6-pack I brought home to my Dad and Daughter.   No, I didn’t eat these myself!!

And of course… the reason for it all…. to meet these lovely ladies!!  Jessica Stanley of Rocket Queen Cupcakes, ME! Betsy Eves of JavaCupcake,  Lisa Waxman Johnson of New York Cupcakes and Carrie Middlemiss of Bella Cupcake Couture!

I’m definitely adding New York Cupcakes to my Top 3 Favorite Cupcake shops.  I don’t know why I hadn’t been there before… but it was well worth the drive to Bellevue!  The cupcakes are divinely delicious, the atmosphere is sinfully sweet and the owner… well Lisa is just fantastic and one of the sweetest women I’ve met in a long time!  Make sure you stop by New York Cupcakes on your next visit to the Seattle area… you won’t regret it!!!

Over 5000 cupcakes were devoured in less than two hours and the line to get into the venue wrapped around the block! Bella Cupcake Couture did an amazing job putting this event together and I can’t wait to see how much money it raised for Hope Heart Institute.

Wink Cupcakes posted a VIDEO of the cupcake eating contest that you MUST watch.  It was AWESOME!  CakeSpy also posted a video… you can see it below!

My cupcake was enetered into the “Best Seattle Themed” contest, but unfortunatly didn’t win.  But, it’s okay… I had so much fun at Cupcake Camp!!

I met so many great people too!  People kept coming up to me asking, “Are you JavaCupcake?” It felt so good to get recognized!  I’ve never been a part of a community like this where everyone is welcome and loved!

Thank you to all my friends and family who helped me prepare my cupcakes for this event.  I could not have done it without you!! (Sarah, Heather, Desi, and Mom!!!)
